Carter Blake on Audible Plus

If you're in the USA and a member of Audible Plus (kind of like the Audible version of Netflix), you can currently stream the first four Carter Blake audiobooks for free.

Go here to see them in the Audible Plus catalog.

Eric Meyers did a really great job narrating these books, and I'm reminded that the American audio covers are all pretty good. Audiobook jackets can be a total mess for rights reasons, but I think these all hold up well and bear some relation to the plot of each book.

Happy listening.

Don't Look For Me is published in hardcover, ebook and audio in the USA today by Pegasus Books!

Here's where you can get it:

Hardcover

(Brits, Canadians, Australians, Kiwis - it's available where you are already.)

DON'T LOOK FOR ME

A nail-biting new thriller ― perfect for fans of Jack Reacher, Alex Cross, and Jason Bourne ― about the desperate hunt for a woman who has a secret to kill for...

Six years ago, the woman Carter Blake loved disappeared and told him not to ever look for her. For six long years, he kept that promise. She was a woman on the run ― a woman with a secret many would kill for. It was better that she stay hidden.

But now someone else is looking for her. Trenton Gage is a hitman with a talent for finding people ― dead or alive. And his next job is to track down the woman Carter Blake once loved, a woman on the run. With both men hunting the same person, the question is: Who will find her first?

"Terrific stuff!" Ian Rankin

"Mason Cross is a thriller writer for the future who produces the kind of fast-paced, high octane thrillers that I love to read." - Simon Kernick

"A well-plotted and tension-filled tale delivering more twists and turns than the Hampton Court maze and is packed with memorably drawn characters." - Irish Independent

"So pacy I'm exhausted! Definitely one to read if you like your thrillers thrilling." - Emma Kavanagh

"With few pauses for reflection, and plenty of heart-pounding, visceral action, this one immediately calls to mind Lee Child." - Booklist

Don't Look For Me - US release date

Don't Look For Me is published in a beautiful hardcover edition by Pegasus Books on 2nd January 2018, which, insanely, is less than two months away.

It's already picked up a nice advance review in Booklist, which said:

"With few pauses for reflection, and plenty of heart-pounding, visceral action, this one immediately calls to mind Lee Child."

...which I will definitely take.

If you're a blogger or reviewer in the US, you can request an advance ebook from Netgalley, or request a review copy or press kit direct from Pegasus.

If you would rather just wait a few weeks and buy a copy, I would obviously be delighted with that outcome too, so here's where you can get it:

Hardcover

ebook

Audiobook

(Brits, Canadians, Australians, Kiwis - it's available where you are already.)

And because Pegasus are nice like that, they're also running a Goodreads giveaway to win my entire back catalogue:

However you get hold of it, I hope you enjoy this one.

Winterlong - American publication day

Delighted to say that the third Carter Blake book, Winterlong, is published in hardcover in the USA today.

They taught him to kill. Now they want him dead.

It’s been five years since Carter Blake parted ways with top-secret government operation Winterlong. They brokered a deal at the time: he’d keep quiet about what they were doing, and in return he’d be left alone. But news that one of Blake’s old allies, a man who agreed the same deal, is dead means only one thing – something has changed and Winterlong is coming for him.

You can get Winterlong at all good bookshops and in your format of choice:

Hardcover

ebook

Audiobook

British readers can also buy the same book under a different title - The Time to Kill is published in an excellent new paperback edition in the UK in just two days time.

Lastly, I'm in New York City for launch day, and am hoping to sign some stock in the Mysterious Bookshop - if you're in the area you can pick up a signed copy.

Public service announcement: two titles, one book

If you've been wondering why I have two books coming out in the space of six months, the answer is I don't. Unfortunately, I'm just not that fast. The Time to Kill and Winterlong are in fact the same novel.

While it's not the first time one of my books has different titles in different territories...

...it is the first time it's happened between English language editions.

What I really want to avoid is people accidentally buying the book twice, because cover and title aside, they are exactly the same book. Of course, if you're fully aware of that, I have no objection to anyone buying these or indeed any of my books twice.

So in the UK, the third Carter Blake novel is titled The Time to Kill. It's available right now in trade paperback and ebook, and will be published by Orion in mass market paperback on February 9 2017 - you can preorder on Amazon now with the price guarantee.

Over in the USA, my publisher Pegasus loved the original title and have decided to stick with it, so Winterlong will be hitting the shelves on February 7 2017 - again, you can preorder the hardcover edition right now.

The other news is I'm aiming to be in New York City for US publication day, and I'm going to try to get around some American bookstores for the first time. Stay tuned for more details...

American publication day - The Samaritan

The Samaritan is finally released in America today, published by Pegasus Books.

The cover is quite different from the UK version this time around, but it's great. I received a box full of author copies last week and, although pictures don't do it justice, the hardcover is a thing of beauty.

I had lots of great emails and messages from American readers about The Killing Season, so I can't wait to see how people react to the new book. It's already had great US reviews in Publishers Weekly and Kirkus.

Email me, Tweet me, Facebook me or just comment here at the blog to let me know what you think about Carter Blake's latest case.

You can order The Samaritan now from all good bookshops:

The Samaritan - first American reviews

The first couple of American reviews are in for The Samaritan, and I'm delighted that they're both great write-ups:

"Fans of Jeffery Deaver—that other thrill-master who can’t resist piling on the climactic twists even as the lights are coming up and you’re looking for your umbrella—should be enthralled." - Kirkus

"even jaded genre readers will be absorbed by Cross’s second thriller featuring manhunter Carter Blake" - Publishers Weekly

The Samaritan is published in the US by Pegasus Books on February 1st, 2016, and you can pre-order the US hardcover or ebook right now:

Publication Day: America

The Killing Season is published in hardcover in America today by Pegasus.

It's already had some great advance reviews in Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, Booklist and Library Journal and on US mystery blogs like Over My Dead Body, and now I can't wait to hear from readers in the spiritual home of pulp fiction.

It's a really big deal for me to be published in the world's biggest thriller market, and it's yet another milestone I dreamed about hitting when I was spending my nights writing this thing.

If you like the book, I'd love to hear from you. Reviews and telling a friend are very welcome too. If your friend happens to be Steven Spielberg or Clint Eastwood, that's even more welcome.

You can get The Killing Season in various formats in the following stores in the US:

Hardcover

Audio

“British author Cross makes a spectacular U.S. debut with this harrowing thriller. The gripping, intense pace and the intriguing characters will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Hope for a sequel!” (Library Journal starred review)

“Mason Cross has created an enigmatic character in Carter Blake. The writing is taut, intelligent, oozes suspense. A highly impressive debut novel.” (Matt Hilton, author of the bestselling Joe Hunter thrillers)

“Keeps the pace breakneck, the suspense high, and the body-count higher.” (Booklist)

"The suspense builds all the way to the breathtaking ending. Readers will look forward to seeing more of Blake." (Publishers Weekly)

"Pulse-pounding. Mason Cross launches into The Killing Season with no-holds-barred, as he deftly combines an adrenaline rush plot with one of the best new series characters since Jack Reacher. Prepare to read all night." (Lisa Gardner, New York Times bestselling author)

“Cross provides a gratifyingly high body count, ruthlessly efficient action sequences and all the other thrills you'd expect of the superior popcorn movie you can expect his first novel to spawn, right down to a nifty extra twist in the tail.” (Kirkus starred review)

"My kind of book." (Lee Child)

The US edition

The cover of the US edition is now showing on Amazon.com, where readers in the US can now pre-order the hardcover edition from Pegasus Books, which has a publication date of February 15 2015.

Obviously it's not a radical departure from the Orion cover, but I'm pretty happy with that - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I can't wait to hold the physical copy in my hands. Orion has world rights so I'm not sure whether publishers in other English-speaking territories make their own edits, but I'm looking forward to finding out more about the process, and I can't wait to be officially published in the States.

You can check out my author page at Pegasus here.
